All Saints’ College, Thiruvananthapuram receives a grant of US $4,959.00 (~ 3.70 lakhs)  for the project entitled “Telemedicine ready Pulse - Oxygen Saturation - Temperature Monitoring Appliance (POSTMA)” from Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE) - Humanitarian Activities  (HAC)/SIGHT (Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology)  to support grassroots humanitarian technology that addressed the COVID-19 situation by IEEE members in their local communities. This project has been sanctioned to help the geriatric who is affected by silent hypoxia which is the new villain as the Covid-19 pandemic enters a new phase in the Kerala state. For early diagnosis a pulse oximeter that can measure the oxygen saturation level, temperature and pulse rate which is wireless enabled through low power blue tooth connectivity to a nearby smartphone is essential. This will help the health workers to continuously monitor the health conditions of COVID patients under reverse quarantine. A team comprising of students, faculty from the Department of Physics (Dr. Anjana P S and Dr. Veena Suresh Babu), Humanities (Dr. Vidya Nair and Dr. Vijayakumari K) and National Service Scheme (Dr. Ayona Jayadev and Dr. Kavitha N) will execute the project within a span of six months.
