FLAIR (Fostering Linkages in Academic Innovation and Research) is a New Initiative of the Government of Kerala for uplifting the standards of Higher Education in Kerala. This initiative was started in 2013. Selection process involved screening of college teachers throughout colleges in Kerala.

The highlight of the training is that the faculty member has identified a good practice which will be highly beneficial for the higher education in Kerala, if implemented. The identified good practice was made into a document entitled “Role of portfolios as an innovative strategy and good practice in higher education”, which describes all the details pertaining to role of portfolios in the progressive growth and adoptability of students towards employability. The faculty member has explained (in detail) how this can be achieved and disseminated to other academics and has started this innovative practice in the institution, as the first step and also has achieved invaluable insights in innovative learning technologies.

Major Research Project entitled ‘Isolation and Characterization of Phenol Degrading Anaerobic Bacteria: with Special Reference to Methanogens and Sulphate Reducers from Coconut Husk Retting’ sponsored by University Grants Commission (UGC-MRP), and operational from 01.04.2013 to 01.04.2017 totaling to a sum of 7,73,300/- has been successfully completed, and all accounts settled in this regard.
COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH LINKAGES WITH OTHER INSTITUTIONS
Dr. J.K. Reshma got sanction as Collaborating Investigator of the Network of Researchers under various funded Research Projects implemented by the International and Inter University Centre for Natural Resources Management (IIUCNRM), with effect from 04.06.2014. Project entitled ‘Rejuvenation of ponds to revive the water Environment of the Problematic blocks of Kerala-A Spatial Information System and Accomplishment plan’, sponsored by State Planning Board, Government of Kerala, has been completed, within a time period of 4 years (Including one year extension).
Paper entitled ‘Biodegradation of Phenols by bacterial cultures isolated from coconut husk retting zones of southern west coast of Kerala, India” was presented in the National Seminar “Inland Water Resources and Environment” with a focal theme on sustainable remedies to ecosystem destruction and pollution, 02.02.2004 to 04.04.2004 at Techno park, TVPM.
Paper entitled ‘Biodegradation of 2,4,5-T by bacterial cultures isolated from coir retting zones of south west coast of Kerala, India’, was presented in National symposium on “Microbial Technology for Productive Agriculture”, 07.10.205-08.10.2005 at Tamilnadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.

Conducted a Regional Biodiversity Expo on 02.03.2012, supported by the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Kerala. In connection with that, a talk by Mr. Harikumar, Energy Management Centre – Kerala and secretary of Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA)
was also organized.
Conducted one day regional seminar sponsored by KSCSTE and supported by DST on ‘Clean energy options and nuclear safety‘ in connection with National Science Day 2012 on 27.02.2012.
Environmental Conservation message depicting placards were fixed in different locations in the college premises on 20.03.2012.
Successful operation of a Vermicompost unit in the college which was inaugurated on 29.03.2011. Arrangements were done to collect waste from college canteen, hostel mess and the mushroom rearing unit in the campus and to be added to the vermicompost unit.
Organised an IQAC Sponsored Seminar on ‘Challenges in Attaining Excellence’ at Audio Visual Hall, All Saints’ College on 08.07.2014.
Organised an Inter- Collegiate Quiz Competition on the theme ‘’Nature”, on 24.07.2012. The programme was sponsored by Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Kerala. The quiz was conducted by Dr. Abhilash, Assistant Professor, Christian College, Chengannur.
Organised a Green Film Fest on ‘Environmental Conservation’ during World Environment Day on 05.07.2014.
An Orientation programme for undergraduate and post graduate students and faculty was organised jointly by Department of Environmental Sciences and International and Inter University Centre for Natural Resource Management (IIUCNRM), University of Kerala on 12.03.2015. The programme mainly focused on the need for wetland conservation and invited lectures were delivered by Dr. Rajesh Reghunath (Co-Ordinator, IIUCNRM), Dr. Jobin Thomas (Research Associate, IIUCNRM) and Dr. Abin (Faculty, State Institute of Rural Development).
Organised the ‘Rally for Rivers Campaign’ initiated by ISHA foundation, along with Botany department of the college. Whole college participated in the event on 12.10.2017.
Organised the release of practical records prepared in the portfolio format for I Semester and II semester respectively which was done by Dr. Achuthsankar S Nair, Professor and Head, Dept. of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, and Coordinator of IQAC, University of Kerala, on 17.10.2017, at IQAC Office, University of Kerala.
