RESEARCH OVERVIEW
Environmental Sciences is interdisciplinary in nature. Various course modules prescribed under Environmental Sciences programme prepares students to take on new environmental problems in national and global context. It provides the students with rigorous scientific knowledge about the present and possible future state of the environment. Our core studies focus on Environmental Biology and Chemistry, renewable resources, surface and subsurface hydrology, Remote sensing and GIS, environmental Microbiology, Geology, radiation and Hazardous management, environmental restoration, environmental Meteorology, and climatology. Practical work assigned to the students brings promising results to achieve the objective of growing research aptitude in students. The Department conducts research on environmental systems to understand how ecosystem components could change as a result of anthropogenic activities, role of microbial systems in cleaning up of our environment, study on geo-morphological characteristics etc. Projects typically depend on collaboration among scientists and other professionals with different areas of expertise, and require knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Geology.
