The first priority of the faculty of the department is teaching. Small class sizes and close contact between professors and students create opportunities for discussion and collaboration both in and outside the classroom. Our faculty is active in research and extension work and often involves students in their work. With abundant options and personal support, our students pursue their academic interests in diverse fields of the subject and our students shall be confident, creative and open minded to take new research challenges and think ‘out-of-the-box’ research.
· To produce competent professionals with a strong foundation of Environmental Sciences and application to be suitable for vital positions in the academia, industry and government and non-government institutions as skilled manpower.
· To prepare our students to become effective scientific communicators/collaborators in multidisciplinary teams providing technical leadership to engage with the challenging environmental problems of local, national and global nature.
· To instill the virtues of ethics, integrity and social responsibility in our students, and be ready to take up viable mission for a national cause.
· Apply the basic concepts of Environmental Sciences in field based applications
· Scientifically conduct studies (Monitoring, Modeling and analysis) of major environmental components such as air, water, soil, and sediments.
· Conduct risk assessment analysis of any environmental entities like river, lakes, agricultural lands, rural and urban atmosphere.
· Use state-of-the-art techniques, tools and skills necessary for accurate analysis of environmental samples.
· Address the Environment and Resource Management issues through appropriate application of remote sensing and GIS techniques
· Demonstrate the knowledge of sustainable waste management technologies
· Conduct effective and comprehensive biodiversity analysis of areas of ecological significance.
· Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of Environmental Sciences
· Able to function effectively on multi-disciplinary teams to accomplish a common goal.
· Communicate effectively, both written and oral, with a range of audiences.
· Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the environmental principles and apply these to her own work, as member and/or leader in a team, to execute multidisciplinary projects.
· Recognize the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in life-long learning and continuing professional development.
