SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS ORGANISED

•  Department of Environmental Sciences and Department of Botany conducted a two day UGC sponsored National Conference on “Biodiversity conservation-Conservation of nature’s endless and unexplored resources “on 28^th and 29^th September 2011.
• Conducted a Regional Biodiversity Expo on March 2^nd, 2012 supported by the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Kerala. In connection with that, a talk by Mr. Harikumar from Energy Management Centre – Kerala and secretary of Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA) was also organized.    
•   Conducted an inter- collegiate quiz competition on the theme “Nature”, on 24^th July 2012. The programme was sponsored by Directorate of Environment and Climate Change (Bhoomithra Sena Club), Government of Kerala. The quiz was conducted by Dr. Abhilash, Assistant Professor, Christian College, Chengannur, Kerala.

• Conducted one day regional seminar sponsored by KSCSTE and supported by DST on ‘Clean energy options and nuclear safety ‘in connection with National Science Day 2012 during 27-2-2012.

•  In Connection with the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of All Saints’ College, Thiruvananthapuram, Department of Environmental Sciences Organised a two day National Seminar on ‘Contemporary Techniques in Environmental research and Conservation’(CTERC-2014) on 13^th and 14^th of March 2014.  

• PG Department of Environmental Sciences organised a plantation drive, an invited lecture by Dr. E. Shaji, Asst. Professor, Department of Geology, University of Kerala, and a Green Film fest on Environmental Conservation on World Environment Day on June 5^th 2014, with financial assistance from Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment.

•  The Department organized a one day regional seminar, inter-collegiate Essay and Elocution competitions in connection with the National Science Day celebrations 2015 on 27.02.2015. The event was conducted under financial aid from the Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment and supported by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

•    An Orientation programme for undergraduate and post graduate students and faculty was organised jointly by Department of Environmental Sciences and International and Inter University Centre for Natural Resource Management (IIUCNRM), University of Kerala on 12.03.2015. The programme mainly focused on the need for wetland conservation and invited lectures were delivered by Dr. Rajesh Reghunath (Co-Ordinator, IIUCNRM),  Dr. Jobin Thomas  (Research Associate, IIUCNRM) and Dr. Abin (Faculty, State Institute of Rural Development)

                   Talk By Dr. Rajesh Raghunath, Co- ordinator, IIUCNRM

• Department of Environmental Sciences organized a seminar with relation to World Ozone day on 14.09.2015. Dr. Muvve Venkata Ramana, Scientist, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology inaugurated the event and he delivered a very informative lecture on significance of ozone with reference to Ozone Depletion .

•  The Biodiversity club of the department organized a programme in connection with the International Day of action for Rivers on 14.03.2016. The renowned environmental activist Sri. V. J. Jose, (Greenpeace International appointed River Keeper for Periyar) interacted with the students and they got an opportunity to appreciate the efforts made to protect the river ecosystem and also had a very lively session with film shows, documentaries and nadan pattu on the theme.
