NEEM GREEN CAMPAIGN

 

The students and faculty of the Department participated in the ‘Neem Green Campaign’ held in the college campus on 25th June, 2013. Prof. Susan Edel Lopez, Principal of the college inaugurated the event by planting a neem sapling in the campus. As part of the Biodiversity Club activities, 70 neem saplings were planted in ‘Shanthisthal’ and various places in the campus by the faculty and students of the Department.

 

 

 

Biodiversity and Bhoomithra Sena Club under Department of Environmental Sciences organized a “Neem Green Kerala Project” for Neem Tree Propagation initiated in college campuses, in connection with the observance of World Environment Day -2015 on 06/06/2016. The event was inaugurated by Mr. K.P. Kannan and Prof. Devaki, Programme Co-ordiantors, Neem Green Kerala, Department of Forest and Wild Life (Social Forestry Programme), by planting neem saplings in the area allotted for ‘Santhisthal’ under Biodiversity club of the Department. 50 saplings of Neem were also planted on the same day.

Observance of World Environment Day- 2014

PG Department of Environmental Sciences organised a plantation drive, an invited lecture by Dr. E. Shaji, Asst. Professor, Department of Geology, University of Kerala, and a Green Film fest on Environmental Conservation on World Environment Day on June 5th 2014.

The students of Semester II, M Sc Environmental Sciences organized an awareness campaign and demonstration on ‘Organic Farming Practices’ at Govt. UPS Vilappil, Thiruvananthapuram on 06.06.2015.

 

 

 

 

 

HANGING BIRD NEST IN THE CAMPUS

 

Students of the Department hanged numerous bird nests in different locations inside the campus on 02.06.2015.

 

JAIVAVAIVIDHYA  RADHAM

 As part of the Biodiversity Club activities, a Biodiversity Expo was conducted on 27th and 28th January, 2016 in the Campus and ‘Jaivavaividhya Radham’ an initiative to help raise awareness among students on the rich biodiversity of Kerala was also made available for the benefit of the students, in the campus.
