Departmental Activities 2021-22

COMMERCE ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION

  • The inauguration of Commerce Association was held on 22nd of July.  Dr. Biju Terrence,  Associate Professor, Department of Commerce of University of Kerala inaugurated the session.

  

  • A webinar, in association with Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC)  was organised on 27th of July 2021. Sri. Kochouseph Chittilapilly, Founder-Chairman of V-Guard Group Chain of Amusement Parks (Wonderla) took up the session on the topic “Meet the Entrepreneur”.

 

  • An International Seminar was organized by the PG Department of Commerce in association with the IEDC on the topic "Diaspora Entrepreneurship ",on 14th and 15th of December 2021.The seminar consisted of participants belonging to the UG and PG Department of Commerce of All Saints' College and Research Scholars.

 

   

  • Department of Commerce in Collaboration with Vidyarupa School of Management Studies had organized a talk on Career Prospects in Finance and Accounting Domain - A Business perspective for all the first- and second-year students of the college on 29 November 2021.The talk  gave an understanding of avenues and job prospects for students from different disciplines in Forensic department.

  

 

 

Departmental Activities 2019-2020

  •  The activities of the Commerce Assocation were inaugurated by Dr. Arun Surendaran, Strategic Director and Principal of Trinity College of Engineering. He had an interactive session on Innovation and entrepreneurship,

  

  

  • The Financial Literacy Club organised a One Day Seminar on Goods and Service Base (GST) on 25th July 2019

 

  • Sherin S George ,Associate Manager , Hedge Equities delivered a KASE programme."Gateway of Financial freedom" on 22nd July 2019 for B.Com Third Semester students 

 

 

  • One Day National Seminar on  "BUDGETARY PRACTICES IN INDIA" was Organized by Post Graduate Department of Commerce, Sponsored by Institute of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram on 14th February 2020 Brochure

Departmental Activities 2018-2019

  • The Commerce Associationwas inaugurated on 17th September, 2018 by Sri G.S Manoharan Nair, the General Manager of HLL Lifecare Ltd, Akkulam. The keynote address on the “Relevance of Professional Courses” highlighted on the opportunities a student can gain on completing a professional course such as CA, CMA & CS; and also on the impact of cost reduction and cost control which takes place in every sector of the economy. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Anupama S Nair, of DC 3 B.Com.

  

  • An orientation class on CA, CMA, CS & ACCA for final year B.com students was conducted on 28th September, 2018.
  • Sri N.Edison, who was the former Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, conducted a seminar on the topic “TAXATION AND GST” on 05th October, 2018.

 

  • A talk on “Fashion Designing”, by Ms. Antara Bhattacharya was held on05th October, 2018.
  • A seminar was conducted on 24thOctober,2018 by Dynamic resumeto provide the students the “Impact of digitalisation in the present economy”,which was very informative to the students.
  • A program “Best Manager” was conducted by GIIMS, Cochin on 26thOctober, 2018, headed by Sri. MufeedMusthafa, the DGM of GIIMS. Iffath Azeem and Irfana R S; of DCIII B. Com Finance backed the first place and received a cash award of Rs 500/-each; and it was a very innovative and interactive session.
  • A seminar was conducted on 16th January, 2019 by VIDYARUPA SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES to enlighten the students “The relevance of globally accepted Professional Accounting and Management courses”.

 

  • Aneesha Varghese, Anju Titus, and Suhailaof DCII B.Com were shortlisted for Level 2 of ICAI Commerce Wizard conducted on 20th of January 2019.
  • Two day National Seminar on “Behavioural Finance – The Emerging Financial Market Scenario” at Government Arts College, Trivandrum on 24th and 25th of January 2019. 20 Students participated in the seminar. The following students presented papers:

1. Krishna V. and Emilda Fernandez on “ Investors Psychology in Decision Making”

 2. Sreelekshmi R.H. and ManishaSherinMammen on “A Study on the Role of Psychology in Investment Decision Making”.

  • A talk on “Careers in Commerce” was held on 13th February 2019 by LOGIC School of Management. 

  • A talk on “Tally Certification and GST Implementation” by Ms. G. Karpagam (Branch Manager)of  Kalvi Higher Education and Research Institutewas held on 13th February 2019.

  • ELYSIUM II- Best Management Event - Conducted by Mar Ivanios College, two teams comprising of Karishma P. B., Aliya.N, Arathy A.B, Lavanya V.S., AfraSulthana, Arpitha, Nithya Mathew (DC II B.Com) participated.
  • One day training program on Gateway to Financial Freedom was organized on 13/3/2019 as part of the Investors Club activity.
  •  One day training on Fundamentals of Securities market was conducted by Hedge Equities as part of Financial Literacy Club activity on 14/03/2019.

Departmental Activities 2017-2018

  • The activities of the Commerce Association for the academic year 2017-2018 were inaugurated on 23rd August 2017. The programme started by invoking God’s blessings. The secretary in charge of Commerce Association, Aparna S. Sarma, student of DC II B.Com (TTM) welcomed the gathering. The chief guest of the day was Dr. Baiju Ramachandran, a well known Company Secretary of Commerce and Industry. The function ended with vote of thanks proposed by Divya Anil

Departmental Activities 2016-2017

  • The activities of the Commerce Association for the academic year 2016-2017 was inaugurated on 31st August 2016 by CA R.Sreedhar, Fellow Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

  

  • On 30th September, Mr. Arun.D, Synergy School of Business gave a talk on “Time Management” for B.Com students. 
  • Talk by Dr. D.S.V Nagson, Value Ideas Investment Services Pvt.Ltd Mumbai on 3/11/2016.
  • Inter-department quiz competition in collaboration with KICMA on 23/11/2016. The winners were Sruthi J S and Sona A of DC 1, B.Com Finance.
  • Talk by Mr.K John, Globesta Auditors,Cochin on 11/1/2017.
  • Talk by Mr. Charles Skariah, Lakshya-CA campus, Vanchiyoor on 13/1/2017.
  • Talk by Venugopal Rayirath, Senior Associate, Lotus Knowlwealth on “Capital Market Awareness with an Overview of the Securities Market” on 10/2/2017.
  • Talk by Mrs. Deepthi M Gladston, Lecturer CAMS on 13/2/2017.
  • Talk by Bibi Anohar , Counsellor ICSI ,Trivandrum Chapter on 14/2/2017.  
  • Devikrishna J. G  and Archana H of M.Com 2nd year presented a paper entitled “Role of Information Technology in Business” for a seminar , Spectrum 2017 conducted by S.N College, Chempazhanthy on 22/2/2017.
  • Hesly Abraham of final year B.com TTM and Neha Marie Princelin of final year B.Com Finance presented a paper entitiled “EMV Chip Technology and its Growth in the year 2017 and Beyond” for a seminar, Spectrum 2017 conducted by S.N College, Chempazhanthy on 22/2/2017.

  • Smt. Lissy Bennet, Assistant Professor and Smt. Sangeetha S, Assistant Professor presented a paper entitled “ Investing in the India’s Infrastructural Sector –An Overview” in an International seminar  organized by the Department of Commerce, School of Management and Legal Studies, University of Kerala.

 

 Departmental Activities 2013-2014

Two day international seminar on Micro Finance – Opportunities and Challenges organized on 7th & 8th February 2014. Rev.Mother Mary Elma, Superior general and Manager, CCK inaugurated the seminar . Keynote address was given by Dr.S.Kevin, Director, Bishop Jerome Institute, Kollam (Former PVC, University of Kerala).

  • Shri. Raju. P K, Finance Officer, University of Kerala, gave a talk on ‘Career Opportunities to Commerce students’ on 16/8/2013.
  • Shri. Srilil. S. L, G Tec Computer, Trivandrum, gave a talk on ‘Accounting Softwares’ on 9/9/2013.
  • A talk on ‘Awareness on Chartered Accountancy’ was given by Shri. C A .Hari &CA. Sreedhar Chairman & Former Chairman, Institute of chartered Accountants of India, Trivandrum on 1/10/2013.
  • Shri. Omanakuttan S, Director, Tax Study Centre, Ernakulam, gave a talk on Significance of the course ‘Tax Practioner’ on 21/10/2013.
  • Mr. Shone Babu, Asst Manager, ISDC Global, gave a talk on ‘International Qualifications and Management Fest, Kerala Business Challenge’ on 8/1/2014

An Inter Collegiate Business Quiz- Commerce Impact was organised on 10/3/2014. Seven teams representing colleges from Trivandrum and Quilon districts had participated the programme. It was sponsored by Shutter Angels Fine Arts Documentation & photography. Shri. Sridhar, Ms.Jayasindhu & Shri. Unni, Chartered Accountants, Sridhar & Co, Trivandrum had conducted the event. The results of the competition

First prize – Rs.5000 Soju L Johnson(DC IIB com) , & Shamna Shafeek, (Dc III B.com) Fathima Matha National College, Kollam.
Second Prize - Rs. 2500 Ajaml P & Rohith R (DC II B.com) Govt. Arts College, Thiruvananthapuram.
Third Prize - Rs.1000 Keerthana & Devika J S (DC II B.com) N.S.S College, Neeramankara, Thiruvananthapuram.

Extension Activity

Community health club of the department execute the extension activities. The main objective of the club is to create awareness on health and hygiene and thereby to build up a healthy community through healthy individuals.

  • A Medical camp on Chest diseases sponsored by Cipla Pharmaceuticals was conducted at All Saints College. Pulmonologist Dr.Kamala RamMohan and Dr. Geena Daliez from chest disease hospital, pulayanarkotta, Trivandrum led the camp.
  • Awareness programme – Role of Cleanliness in Prevention of Diseases. Members from Karikkakom, Shankumugham, Kannanthura and Vettukad are benefitted.
  • Beach Cleaning Programme at Shangumugham Beach was another activity.
  • An anti plastic rally was conducted by the members of the club with slogans and plug cards from All Saints College to shangumugham.
