ZOOLOGY ASSOCIATION
Zoology Association activities for the academic year was inaugurated by Dr.Manoj Sankar, Consultant Psychologist on 5, August 2014 at 2 p.m in the College Recreation Hall. He delivered a speech about the psychological problems seen among students and had a one-hour interactive discussion with the students.
In context with the National Women’s day, a debate competition was organized for the students of the Department on 9, March, 2015 in the Zoology Laboratory. The topic was on “Are women secure during night travel”. Smt. Anitha Nair, H.O.D., and Dr.Udayakala, Department of Malayalam were the judges. 7 teams participated and 2 teams from SEM 2 and 1 team from SEM 6 were selected as prize winners.
P.T.A MEETING
P.T.A meeting of the SEM I students was organized on November, 6 and 7 by the Class teacher Dr. Vijayasree who was appointed against the maternity leave vacancy of Dr..Siny.G.Benjamin.
FIELD STUDY TRIP
A 5-day field study trip was organized for the SEM 6 students to Silent Valley and Malampuzha from 16-21 December, 2014. Dr.D.Sherly, Faculty of the Department and Dr.Udayakala, Faculty of the Department of Malayalam accompanied the 45 students.
5-DAY WORKSHOP
A 5-day workshop on “Ornamental Fish Culture and Aquarium Maintenance” was organized from 3-7 March, 2015. This 2nd Workshop was the continuity of the 1st workshop organized by the Department of Zoology on March 11-15, 2014, which was a grand success. The main aim of this workshop was to identify new trainees and to provide opportunity for them to learn more about the advanced technologies in the field of ornamental fish culture. The programme was inaugurated by Respected Mother Mary Elma, Mother Superior General, of ‘The Congregation of the Carmelite Religious Sisters’ of Thiruvananthapuram and the Manager of All Saints’ College on 3, March 2015 at 10 am. in the A.V. Room. The valedictory session of the programme was inaugurated by the Hon. Minister for Fisheries and Excise, Government of Kerala on 6, March 2015 at 2.30 p.m in the Recreation Hall. Dr. D.Sherly was the organizing secretary of the programme. 25 unemployed women and 30 students participated in the programme.
ADD-ON-COURSE
The UGC sponsored Add-on-course on “Ornamental Fish culture and Aquarium Management” is continuing successfully. Dr.D.Sherly is the co-ordinator.
