 Departmental Activities 2018-2019

• The activities of the mathematics association for the year 2018-2019 was inaugurated on 28/9/2018. Dr.Anilkumar S, Scientist & head of applied mathematics division was the chief guest. A talk on “opportunities for Mathematics graduates” was arranged on the day.

 

• One day workshop was conducted to the students of S3 mathematics on the topic “Data Science- Text Mining using R” on 28/9/2018.

The department organized an interactive session with Dr.Piers Bursill Hall,Department of pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics , Cambridge university,UK on countable and uncountable infinite and the truth of maths on 30/1/2019

 

• Department organized an intercollegiate mathematics quiz competition in memory of late Prof.V S Mary on 5/3/2019.Sumesh S of St, Johns College Anchal was the quiz master

Students from 11 colleges participated.

Activities of students

• Lekshmy J ,Arathy & ,Bincy, won first prize in the intercollegiate chess competitipon organized by the university of Kerala.Lekshmy S was selected for the university chess team.
• Abida Paulson and Arathy of S3 Mathematics  participated in the inter
• Collegiate Statistics quiz competition organized at Govt.Arts college Trivandrum.

Activities of teachers

• Sebina Mathew C attended two day workshop from 24/10/2018 to  25/10/2018  at University college for the preparation of model question paper.
• Sebina Mathew C attended two day workshop at University college on 22/11/2018 to 23/11/2018 at University college on Computer Programming- SAGE.
• Sebina Mathew C Attended one day workshop on Internal mentors of SSP on 10/10/2018 at model finishing school on “Information Security awareness”.
• Renjini Raveendran P attended a short term course in student counseling and mentoring from  24/10/2018 to 31/10/2018.
• Renjini Raveendran P attended one day workshop for internal mentors of WWS at Govt.Arts College Trivandrum on 15/10/2018. 5.  6.Renjini Raveendran P attended one day Seminar for Nodal officers AISHE at Department of Statistics, University of Kerala ,Kariavattom on 25.01.2019
• Renjini Raveendran P attended two day workshop on Counselling at Christ University Nodal Office Trivandrum on 25th and 26th February 2019
• Prof.Shirly Joseph is the chairman for the valuation of S2&S4 university examination of CBCSS system.

• Mathematics association  was inaugurated on 4th October 2017 by Prof.Sumesh S S ,St.Johns college anchal.He delivered a talk on Calculus

 

• Akshaya N and Anju Krishnan of S5 mathematics won the third prize in the intercollegiate Mathematic quiz competition organized by the University college on 8th November 2017.

•  Our students participated in the “BLIND WALK” organized by the project vision on World sight day.

      

• The department organized “Mathsfest” from 19-2-2018 to 20-2-2018.
• Organised the Mathematics exhibition “MAGIC MATH”
• A one day seminar on “Opportunities for Mathematics & Statistics Graduates” was organized by on 19-02-2018. Prof.
• Somasekharanpillai, HOD, Dept. Of Statistics,University college, Trivandrum was the resource person.
• Organized Inter-Departmental Mathematics Quiz competition on 19-02-2018.
• Organised Inter-Collegiate Mathematics quiz competition on 20-02-2018.

Activities of students

•  Anila Raju of S3 mathematics participated in the South Zone Rugby 7s Championship at Andrapradesh on 24-9-2017.
• Alphonsia M of S5 mathematics was selected to the Kerala University
• Football team for the All India inter university Football tournament 2016-2017.She is also a winner of the  talent hunt Football Tournament -2017..
• Alphonsia and Anila Raju  secured the third place in the Kerala University intercollegiate Cricket tournament. They also secured the second place in the Kerala University intercollegiate Football tournament for the year 2016-17
• Afsana S Anser secured first prize in the Choreo dance competition in All india management fest “LUMINANCE 2K16”.

Activities of teachers

• Sebina Mathew C attended a one day workshop for the conveners of Anti Narcotic Club on 22nd July 2017. On 3rd August 2017 Students were taken for an interaction session to Excise Commissionerate Office with Excise Minister Sri Rishi Raj Singh IPS
• Vidya T R attended a national seminar on”Applied statistics and data analysis” from 9-11-2017 to 10-11-2017.

  Departmental Activities 2016-2017

• Mathematics association was inaugurated on  18th July 2016  by  Dr. V. Vilfred, Associate Professor,Central University of Kerala.
• The department organized a three day national seminar on “Graph theory and its applications” from 1-3-2017 to  3-3-2017.The seminar was sponsored by KSCSTE and IQAC.
• The department organized an  Intercollegiate Mathematics Quiz competition on 6-3-2017.   

• Department of Mathematics organized  an  exhibition “Museum  of Mathematics “ from 6-3-2017 to 7-3-2017.

•   Lekshmy S K and Arunima S of S6-Mathematics  won the second prize in the intercollegiate Mathematics quiz competition  organzed by the Govt.Women’s college on 14-3-2017.
• Vidya T R attended National workshop on statistical computing held on 14-19th November 2016 at Department of Statistics,University of Kerala
• Prof.Renjini Raveendran attended the orientation programme from 4-1-2017 to 31-1-2017 at Academic Staff college Karyavattom.
• Sebina Mathew  C  attended two days workshop on scientific computing using Python organized by Department of Mathematics University College on 13th and 14th January 2017.
• Prof.Sebina Mathew C and Prof.Renjini Raveendran P attended  three days workshop on Syllabus revision held at Government College for Women from 8th to 10th March 2017.

 Departmental Activities 2015-2016

• The department organized a UGC sponsored national seminar on “Numerical methods in computer programming and their applications” from 8-7-2015 to 10-7-2015.  
• Activities of the mathematics association for the year 2015-16 was inaugurated on 6-7-2015 
• The tenth volume of the Mathematics Journal “SIGMA” was released on 11-09-2015     
• The mathematics students were taken for the Space Exhibition conducted by ISRO at Kanakakunnu.
•  Department organized an Inter collegiate Mathematics Quiz competition on 22-01-2016 

    

•    Department organized the mathematics exhibition “Mathemagic Re-loaded” on 3-03- 2016 
  
• Final year students took support classes in mathematics for financially backward students of vettucaud St Marys school as part of their extension activity.
• As the part of extension activity a  talk was given by Dr. Shameena from KIMS wellness clinic about Skin care for the youth on12th October 2015.
• As a part of extension activity Yoga class was taken by Lekshmi Nair  on 11th February 201

  • Vidya T R attended a lecture series on Survey and Analytical methods in Election studies conducted by Govt Arts College Trivandrum on 15 th December 2015Vidya T R attended a National Workshop on Statistical Computing using R on 26-27 february 2016 at  Govt Arts College Trivandrum

  Student Achievements

•  Sneha Ann Rollin of S3 Mathematics won second prize in All Kerala Statistical Essay Competition conducted by Department of Statistics,University of Kerala in connection with world statistics day celebrations.
• Sreekomal J S3 of Mathematics won first prize in state circle fencing championship on 4 th October 2015
• M Gopika S3  Mathematics and  Afsana S Anser S1 Mathematics presented a paper on the influence of media in the campus in the seminar held at Christ college irinjalakuda on 20-02-2016
• Maria Goldwin secured second position in the fashion show Rampage Held at IIM Kozhikode
• Maria Goldwin secured second position for the event Gravity corporate walk of constello’15 conducted by Asian School of business
• Sneha Ann Rollin & Muneera S of S4  Mathematics won third prize for the Regional Level Statistics Quiz Competion conducted by CUSAT

Departmental Activities 2014-2015

• The 9th volume  of  Sigma was released by Dr Mary Mettilda Rose on 18th August 2014.
• The activities of the mathematics association were inaugurated on 18-08-2014. A talk on astronomy was also arranged on that day
• The department organized annual Intercollegiate Mathematics and Statistics quiz competition in memory of Late Prof.Mary V S  on 20-2-2015

    

•   As a part of our extension activity our Final year students took mathematics class for the backward students in St Mary’s school Vettucaud.
• As a part of  extension activity a talk on “Reproductive Health” on 17-03-2015 by Dr.Anupama, Gynaecologist and Infertility specialist, Meditrina hospital, Pattom was the resource person.

  Student Achievements

•  Asha Sharaf and Rajalekshmy R won the first prize in the regional level Statistics quiz competition conducted by the Kerala Statistical Association.Renjini Sreekumar and Janaki Balachandran   won third prize in Intercollegiate Mathematics and Statistics quiz competition organized by Department of mathematics
• Asha Sharaf and Rajalekshmy R won first prize in the regional level  intercollegiate Statistics quiz competition conducted by the old students forum of Cochin University.
• Renjini Sreekumar and Renji A S  won the third prize in the golden jubilee memorial Intercollegiate Mathematics quiz competition conducted by the Department of Mathematics, St.Johns college Anchal.
• Renjini Sreekumar and Janaki Balachandran won third prize in the intercollegiate Mathematics quiz competition conducted by Govt Womens’ College Trivandrum.

  Departmental Activities 2013-2014

•  Dr.Arun Sreekumar, B.Tech, MS, PhD, Director, Trinity College of Engineering inaugurated the activities of the mathematics association for the year 2013-2014 on 29-08-2013. He gave a talk on Humanisation of Mathematical Education. As part of Mathematics Association the Department Journal Sigma for the year 2012-13 was released 

  International seminar on Fibonacci Numbers, Probability and Gambling 16-17 December 2013

Fibonacci discovered a series of numbers that seemed to have magical predictive powers. The Fibonacci number appear in almost every branch of mathematics such as number theory, differential equations, probability statistics, numerical analysis and linear algebra. Dr. Andreas Philippou, Professor of Emeritus, University of Patras and Former Education Minister of Cyprus inaugurated the seminar.

   

  Intercollegiate Mathematics Quiz Competition on 14-2-2014

The Department of Mathematics, All Saints’ College organised an Intercollegiate Mathematics Quiz Competition on 14-2-2014 in memory of Late Professor V S Mary.
